It’s amazing what can happen when you get away from your computer, your colleagues, and your business. The mind opens up to new possibilities, and at the same time, rests, reboots.
Personally and professionally, we all need to “reboot”. I have two books: “A Kick in the Seat of the Pants” and it’s sequel, “A Whack in the Side of the Head”. I love ‘em! They provide fun and valuable commentary on increasing your creativity, offer ways to problem solve, stimulate your brain, open mental blocks. Getting away can help you do that! It’s like changing where you sit at the dinner table every night. When you do, you see the room and everything in it in a brand new way.
You don’t have to be in the ad business to benefit from a fresh perspective and thinking more creatively! Being away gave me time to think, evaluate and reassess ideas, my life, relationships, and finally relax. I also came back with a few new TV ideas, too!
Traveling by motorcycle is a very real way to travel. The people you meet, history, cold beers, good food, scenery, the fresh air....and the invigorating sense of accomplishment when we pulled in the driveway after 11 days was just indescribable! I know that traveling the country on a motorcycle isn’t for everyone. As one guy told me, “If I have to explain it to you, you wouldn’t understand.” I’m glad I do.
